Yi Finishes Third, Ducks Seventh at Maui Jim Intercollegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Oregon opened the 2018-19 season by finishing seventh behind a third place finish by senior Edwin Yi at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Club Sunday. Yi shot 10 under for the tournament as the Ducks went 11 under for the weekend as a team.
How it Happened: Yi delivered a career-low 5-under 65 to cap off a solid week in which he shot under par in all three rounds. He birdied holes five and seven to shoot 2 under going out and went 3 under on the back nine, finishing bogey free.
Donald Kay finished in red figures for the second straight day, starting with birdies on three of his first five holes before dropping a shot at the par-5 seventh to start 2 under on the front nine. He made consecutive bogeys at 13 and 14 but bounced back with a birdie on 17 to shoot 1 under and finish tied for 30th.
Freshman Craig Ronne closed his first collegiate tournament with a 1-over 71 and came in tied for 53rd at 4 over. Ryan Gronlund turned in a 2-over 72 and to finish 1 over for the weekend and in a tie for 39th.
Georgia Tech took home the team title with a two-shot victory at 28 under while Clemson's Bryson Nimmer claimed medalist honors at 15 under.
