Travel Squad At California

The Ducks face the Golden Bears on Saturday (7:40 p.m., FS1).
BERKELEY, Calif. — Oregon's travel squad for the first road game of the 2018 season featured 70 players, including running back Tony Brooks-James, labelled "50-50" by head coach Mario Cristobal for Saturday's game at California earlier in the week.
The Ducks brought 32 offensive players, 32 on defense and six specialists. Sophomore defensive lineman Austin Faoliu did not make the trip north after suffering an ankle injury last week against Stanford.
With Faoliu out, the travel squad includes JC transfer Sione Kava, who could make his UO debut on the defensive line Saturday. True freshman TE Spencer Webb also has yet to play this season but made the trip.
The game at California is Oregon's fifth of the season, which for some freshmen will solidify the fact they won't redshirt this season; a new NCAA rule allows for four appearances in a season while preserving redshirt status. The six true freshmen who could no longer redshirt by playing Saturday are RB Travis Dye, CB Kahlef Hailassie, S Jevon Holland, LB Adrian Jackson, OL Penei Sewell and P Tom Snee.
