Teare, Ejore Lead Ducks at Nuttycombe
10/18/19 | Cross Country
EUGENE, Ore. – Paced by a pair of top-20 individual efforts, the Men and Women of Oregon finished in 10th and 14th place, respectively, Friday morning at the loaded Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. Junior Cooper Teare was 12th overall in the men's race while redshirt senior Susan Ejore crossed in 17th place for the women.
Between the two races, there were a combined 40 top-30 teams—20 in each—entered at Nuttycombe.
Teare navigated the 8K Zimmer Championship Course in 23:51.9, and was followed in the Oregon lineup by James West (24:21.8) in 58th place and Cole Hocker (24:23.9) in 64th overall. This was also the Ducks' top three at the Bill Dellinger Invitational with West finishing just ahead of Teare on their home course.
Carter Christman (24:30.5, 87th) and Jackson Mestler (24:38.0, 106th) rounded out the scoring lineup. It marks Christman's second appearance in Oregon's top five this season; he was the fourth UO runner at the season-opening Ash Creek Invitational.
Earlier in the day, redshirt junior Jack Yearian was the top collegiate runner and finished second overall in the 'B' race. He finished in a time of 24:24.6, nearly 10 seconds faster than his 8K time at the Dellinger meet in late September.
