Charlton, Gentry Win Regional Doubles Title

EUGENE, Ore. – For a third-consecutive year, the Oregon men's tennis team is leaving the ITA Northwest Regional Championships with the doubles title. Joshua Charlton and Ty Gentry, the tournament's No. 2 seed, beat Ben Draper and Bjorn Hoffmann of Cal to win the title Monday afternoon and secure a spot in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
Charlton and Gentry opened the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Samuel Feit and Matthew Hollingworth of Gonzaga in the semifinals. The Oregon duo was back on court approximately 90 minutes later to face the duo from Cal. After taking the first set, Charlton and Gentry won four of five games to start set two and came away with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph.

The semifinal result marked the 60th career doubles win for Gentry. Through the first two tournaments of the fall schedule, Charlton and Gentry have won six of seven matches and improve to 19-7 over the past two years. The 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships are Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
In the semifinal round of the singles draw, defending champion Emmanuel Coste fell in straight sets to Damon Kesaris of St. Mary's.
