Herbert Named Maxwell Award Semifinalist

EUGENE, Ore. – For the second time in his career, Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award which is given to the college player of the year.
Herbert, who was also a semifinalist last season, has led the Ducks to a 7-1 record and a No. 7 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The Oregon signal caller has completed 179-of-262 passes for 2,104 yards and 21 touchdowns with just one interception this season. He is tied for eighth nationally in TD passes and currently has a streak of 131 passes without an interception.
Herbert has tossed multiple touchdown passes in five of Oregon's eight games, including a pair of five-TD games and a four-touchdown game. The Ducks' senior ranks in the top 20 in seven separate NCAA statistical categories while completing over 68 percent of his passes. In addition to being named the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after the Washington game, Herbert has been named both a Manning Award Star of the Week and to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 two times this season.
