Hebard Heads To 3x3 Tournament

The UO senior post will play for USA Basketball in Qatar next week.
Oregon senior Ruthy Hebard was among four athletes announced Monday as the USA Basketball women's 3x3 team that will represent the United States at the 2019 World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.
Joining Hebard on the U.S. squad will be professionals Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx) and Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces) and high school senior Paige Bueckers (Hopkins H.S./St. Louis Park, Minn.).
The team will take part in the inaugural World Beach Games 3x3 women's basketball competition at Katara Beach from Oct. 13-16. Playing in Group A, the USA will open on Oct. 13 versus Dominican Republic at 8:25 a.m. PT, followed by Jordan at 11:45 a.m. PT on Oct. 13 and Russia at 8 a.m. PT on Oct. 15.
Hebard collected a gold medal at the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, silver at the 2018 FIBA U19 World Cup, finished in fifth place at the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup and participated in the 2018 USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp.
The inaugural World Beach Games, which feature beach, water and action sports, are a six-day competition that will include 13 sports and 14 disciplines, with more than 1,200 athletes from 97 nations expected to participate.
The qualification process is different for each sport but draws from world ranking points or the highest finishing places at World Championships or Continental Championships.
