Anthony Mathis set a Matthew Knight Arena record with nine three-pointers in Oregon's win Saturday over Boise State.
EUGENE, Ore. — Anthony Mathis set a Matthew Knight Arena record with nine three-pointers as the No. 15 Oregon men's basketball team beat Boise State on Saturday, 106-75.
The Ducks (2-0) never trailed in the game, and led by as many as 36 before finishing off the Broncos. As a team, Oregon was 13-of-19 from three-point range, after making only one three-pointer in the season opener.
"We were taking whatever they gave us," Mathis said. "A lot of guys were making shots tonight; we were very fortunate for that. They found me in the right spots."
How It Happened: The first three-pointer of the night by Mathis broke the last tie, putting Oregon ahead for good at 9-6 less than three minutes into the game. Freshman Addison Patterson's free throw at the 12:04 mark of the first half gave the Ducks their first double-digit lead, 20-10, and a three-pointer by Will Richardson with 3:37 left before halftime made it 38-26. Oregon maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the night.

Mathis made 5-of-7 three-point attempts in the first half, and was perfect on four attempts in the second. The Ducks ended up shooting a Matthew Knight Arena record 70 percent (42-of-60) for the game as a team.
"When you make the first one, that's like a breath of fresh air," Mathis said. "I made the first one, and I was good to go."
Point guard Payton Pritchard scored early in the second half to put the Ducks up 54-33, part of an 11-0 run that ended much hope for Boise State. Patterson's dunk at 11:49 of the second half made it 71-40, and the Ducks led by at least 30 the rest of the way.
Who Stood Out: Mathis finished with a career-high 30 points on 10-of-12 shooting overall, including 9-of-11 from three-point range. Pritchard added 19 points with seven assists and six rebounds, and Shakur Juiston added 16 points with a career-high nine assists. Patterson scored 17 points, Chandler Lawson had eight points with nine rebounds and C.J. Walker had one field goal, all three UO freshmen scoring their first collegiate points.

"It was a great step, the enthusiasm we played with," UO coach Dana Altman said. "And the freshmen looked a lot more comfortable. … The guys played hard. Boise has given us problems in the past but our guys were ready tonight."
What It Means: Mathis led the way, but the contributions from the freshmen were welcome after all three were held scoreless in Oregon's opener against Fresno State. The Ducks are a much more dangerous team when they're as well-rounded as they were Saturday.
Notable: Sophomore post Francis Okoro did not play, and was replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Walker. Okoro was involved in a minor car accident but is dealing only with soreness, Altman said. … Mathis became the first Oregon player with nine three-pointers since Tajuan Porter in 2006. Porter still holds the UO single-game record of 10. … Pritchard reached the 500 assists plateau and passed Luke Ridnour for third on the UO career list on Saturday; Ridnour finished his career with exactly 500 assists, while Pritchard now has 501. ... Mathis scored his 1,000th point as a collegian. ... Lök Wur did not play and thus remains on track to sit out as a redshirt.
Up Next: The Ducks face Memphis in the Phil Knight Invitational at Moda Center in Portland on Tuesday (6 p.m., ESPN).
