No. 10 Ducks Travel to No. 5 Michigan
12/10/19 | Men's Basketball
No. 10 Oregon meets No. 5 Michigan in a top-10 showdown Saturday at 9 a.m. Pacific (CBS). This will be the Ducks' first trip to Ann Arbor, Mich.
THE STARTING FIVE
• 1 – Oregon is the only school in the country with its men's basketball, women's basketball and football teams all currently ranked in the Associated Press top 10. Women's basketball is No. 3, football is No. 7 and men's basketball is No. 10.
• 2 – Oregon's game at No. 5 Michigan will be the Ducks' nation-leading fifth game versus a top-15 opponent this season. In addition to Michigan, the Ducks have faced No. 13 Memphis, No. 13 Seton Hall, No. 8 Gonzaga and No. 6 North Carolina. It will be the first time in program history that Oregon has played five ranked nonconference opponents.
• 3 – Two players remain from the Ducks' last meeting with Michigan, a 69-68 Oregon win in the 2017 NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Payton Pritchard was Oregon's starting point guard in that game, while Zavier Simpson came off the bench for the Wolverines. Michigan's Jon Teske and Austin Davis were on the roster but did not play against the Ducks.
• 4 – Payton Pritchard of Oregon and Zavier Simpson of Michigan are two of the most experienced players in the NCAA. Saturday will be Simpson's nation-leading 127th career game, while Pritchard will be playing in his 123rd career game.
• 5 – Payton Pritchard is one of just two players nationally averaging 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
• BENCH – Now the winningest coach in Oregon history, Dana Altman is one of six active head coaches in NCAA Division I who have posted a winning record for the last 22 consecutive seasons. The other five - Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, Roy Williams, Bill Self and Jim Boeheim - are all in the Hall of Fame.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Oregon has arguably played the most difficult schedule in the nation so far this season. The Ducks' four games against top-15 teams leads the nation (with a fifth top-15 team on tap Saturday at No. 5 Michigan).
Teams that have played three or more top-15 teams this season (as of Dec. 8)
4- Oregon (one more at No. 5 Michigan, Dec. 14)
3- Michigan (one more vs. No. 10 Oregon, Dec. 14)
3- North Carolina (potentially one more vs. No. 6 Gonzaga, Dec. 18)
3- Michigan State
THAT 70's SHOW
Under Dana Altman, Oregon is 168-20 when holding opponents under 70 points, including a 133-12 mark the last six seasons. Hello, Wisconsin!

Oregon played three consecutive top-15 opponents at the Battle 4 Atlantis - No. 13 Seton Hall, No. 8 Gonzaga and No. 6 North Carolina. The games were decided by two points, one point and four points. The Ducks defeated Seton Hall 71-69, fell to Gonzaga 73-72 in overtime and lost to North Carolina 78-74. The combined score of the games was 217-220 with an average margin of victory of 2.3 points per game.
LEADERS OF THE PACK
During November, the Ducks played six consecutive games against teams that were picked to finish first or second in their respective preseason poll: Memphis (tie-1st, American Athletic), UT Arlington (2nd, Sun Belt), Houston (tie-1st, American Athletic), Seton Hall (1st, Big East), Gonzaga (1st, West Coast) and North Carolina (2nd, ACC).

He is the only player ranked in the Pac-12's top five in scoring and assists, averaging 18.8 points per game (fifth). By scoring 20 points against the Rainbow Warriors, Pritchard became the first Duck with a 20-point, 10-assists game since Johnathan Loyd in 2013-14.
PRITCHARD AND RON LEE IN CLUB OF TWO
Payton Pritchard is now one of just two players in program history with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds, joining UO Hall of Famer Ron Lee. Pritchard passed Luke Ridnour for third on the UO career assists list Nov. 9 against Boise State.

Not to be outdone by the freshmen, "veteran" sophomore Will Richardson scored a season-high 17 points against North Carolina. He followed that with a 16-point game last week against Hawaii. Oregon's top scorer off the bench has hit double figures four times this season.
ISLAND TIME
Dominican Republic native Chris Duarte enjoyed his return to the Caribbean. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game at the Battle 4 Atlantis and tied his season high of 16 points against both Gonzaga and North Carolina.
