Pritchard Named to Oscar Robertson Watch List

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior guard Payton Pritchard was named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy watch list Thursday. The trophy is presented annually to the national player of the year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Pritchard is one of 46 players nationally named to the initial watch list. He is one of five Pac-12 players on the list, joining Zeke Nnaji of Arizona, Nick Rakocevic of USC, Tres Tinkle of Oregon State and McKinley Wright IV of Colorado.
Recently named to the Battle 4 Atlantis all-tournament team, Pritchard leads the nation with 117 consecutive starts. He is one of just two players in school history with 1,000 career points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds. He is on pace to become the school's career leader in assists, steals, wins and games played.
This season, he has previously been named to the Pac-12 preseason first team, the John Wooden preseason watch list and the Bob Cousy point guard of the year preseason watch list.
The 2019 Pac-12 Tournament most outstanding player, Pritchard played in more minutes than any other player in NCAA Division I last season (1,349), starting all 38 games and leading Oregon to the Pac-12 Tournament championship. During the Ducks' 10-game winning streak that led to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen where they lost to eventual national champion Virginia, Pritchard averaged 16.3 points per game with 54 assists, 25 steals and just 19 turnovers.
