
Oregon Blasts Stanford at Maples

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 ranked Oregon handed No. 11 Stanford its largest ever home loss under head coach Tara VanDerveer, 88-48, on Sunday afternoon at Maples Pavilion.
PAC-12 STANDINGS: The Ducks are the lone undefeated team in the Pac-12 at 12-0, ahead of Oregon State (two losses) and Stanford (three losses).
HOW IT HAPPENED: After Stanford scored the game's first four points, the Ducks rattled off a 14-0 run before the Cardinal needed a timeout to regroup. The Ducks went on to a 20-11 lead at the end of the quarter after Sabrina Ionescu knocked down a jumper in the final minute.
The Ducks used another big run to pull away in the second quarter. After Stanford hit a pair of free throws to make it a 29-20 lead for the Ducks with 3:55 left in the second, Oregon went on a 15-0 run into halftime to lead, 44-20. Ionescu had 17 points in the opening half while Ruthy Hebard had 10 on 5-of-8 shooting.
Oregon continued to pull away in the third as the Ducks led by 30 points, 64-34, after Satou Sabally buried a three and Ionescu knocked down back-to-back jumpers.
The Ducks posted two more 7-0 runs to keep Stanford at bay in the fourth quarter and went on to post an emphatic 40-point win.
40-POINT WIN AT MAPLES: Stanford had lost a home game by 20 or more points just twice under VanDerveer before the Ducks topped the Cardinal by 40 on Sunday. It was Stanford's largest ever loss under VanDerveer, both home or road.
NOTES: The Ducks extended their NCAA-best winning streak to 16 games…Ionescu finished just one rebound and two assists shy of a triple-double with 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists…The Ducks shot a blistering 75 percent from three (12-of-16), led by a 4-for-4 effort by Erin Boley.
UP NEXT: It's officially Civil War week, with the Ducks meeting the Beavers on Friday night in Eugene and Monday night in Corvallis.
