Ducks Up to No. 19 in USA Today/NFCA Poll

EUGENE, Ore. – After getting the Melyssa Lombardi era off to a 5-0 start last weekend at the Kajikawa Classic, the Oregon softball team moved up six spots to No. 19 in the first USA Today/NFCA top-25 poll of the 2019 regular season.
Oregon also went from receiving votes to No. 22 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, and the Ducks slotted in at No. 18 in the opening Softball America top 25.
The Ducks outscored opponents 53-20 in their first five games under Lombardi, hitting .389 as a team with 33 walks to just 18 strikeouts.
Oregon has now been ranked in the USA Today/NFCA top 25 for 136 consecutive polls, dating back to week 10 of the 2010 season.
The Ducks will head to Clearwater, Fla., this week to play at the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational, where they will face four high-quality opponents in No. 8 LSU, No. 18 Kentucky, No. 23 James Madison and Florida Atlantic.
Oregon will play LSU (9:30 a.m. PT, SEC Network) and James Madison (2:30 p.m., ESPN3) on Friday, and Florida Atlantic (7 a.m.) and Kentucky (1 p.m., ESPNU) on Saturday.
