DMR Takes Advantage of MPSF Opportunity

SEATTLE, Wash. – A week removed from what is typically deemed last-chance weekend, the Women of Oregon turned in a season-best and NCAA top-10 performance in the distance-medley relay on day one of the MPSF Championships. Additionally, the Ducks had a pair of runner-up efforts and qualified eight for Saturday's sprint finals.
The DMR quartet of Taylor Chiotti, Makenzie Dunmore, Susan Ejore and Jessica Hull posted a winning time of 10:57.87 to move into the No. 8 spot on the national descending order list. The time doubles as the seventh-fastest relay performance in program history. Oregon is now in position to defend its NCAA title in the event.
The Ducks' first points of the weekend came from redshirt sophomore Maddie Rabing who turned in a personal-best performance to finish second in the weight throw. On her final attempt of the day, she got the implement out to 20.79m/68-2.5 which added more than a foot to her previous day's best. Rabing has recorded a PR in each meet this season and now sits at No. 3 in the Oregon records book.
The Men of Oregon picked up a second-place showing from sophomore Rieker Daniel at 200 meters. Running in the second of 12 sections in the timed final, Daniel stopped the clock in 21.21 which set a new personal best and moved the Boring, Ore., native into the No. 8 spot on the program's career list.
Collectively, Oregon will send eight qualifiers to Saturday's two-section finals in the short-sprint events. Cravon Gillespie was the second-overall qualifier at 60 meters in a time of 6.62, just .01 off his personal best. In the men's hurdles, Braxton Canady was the top qualifier and teammate Jonathan Harvey earned a spot in the final with the first sub-8.00 effort of his career.
