Ducks Blast Bears in Berkeley

BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 3 Oregon used a big second half and 31 points from Satou Sabally to pull away and defeat Cal, 105-82, on Friday night at Haas Pavilion.
PAC-12 STANDINGS: With Oregon State's loss at Stanford on Friday night, Oregon (11-0) now has a two-game edge on the Beavers (9-2) and Stanford (9-2) in the Pac-12 standings. The Ducks and the No. 11 ranked Cardinal meet on Sunday at 1 PM on ESPN2.
SECOND HALF SHOOTING: The Ducks were red hot in the second half, going 22-of-30 from the floor. Oregon shot 60 percent from the field in the third and a blistering 86.7 percent in the fourth. Overall, the Ducks shot 60.3 percent on field goals, 60.9 percent on threes and 88.2 percent on free throws.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon opened the game on a 12-0, keyed by a pair of Sabrina Ionescu layups and a corner three. The Ducks led by as much as 13 on two occasions in the first but took a nine-point lead, 26-17, into the second quarter. Ionescu had 13 points on a 5-of-5 shooting in the first.
The Ducks went cold to start the second quarter and Cal battled back, taking a 34-33 lead with 4:16 left in the second. But Oregon responded with an 11-0 run and led the Bears, 44-36, at halftime. Ionescu had 17 points at the break on 7-of-10 shooting while Sabally had 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
The momentum UO had going into halftime carried over into the third. The Ducks led by 12 with 7:31 left in the third after Sabally buried back-to-back three-pointers. Oregon later used an 8-0 run to go up 14 points, 63-49, before leading by 17, 71-54, after a buzzer beating three from Ionescu.
Oregon shot an incredible 86.7 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter as the Ducks pulled away for the 105-82 win. Sabally scored 21 of her team-high 31 points in the second half. After tallying 17 points in the first half, Ionescu finished with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting in front of a large group of friends and family.
BACK-TO-BACK 100: The Ducks broke the century mark in back-to-back league games for the first time since joining the Pac-12. Oregon last did it in 1981-82 when the Ducks topped Washington (105-74) and Portland State (101-55) in NorPac Conference play.
NOTES: The Ducks extended their NCAA-best winning streak to 15 games…Sabally has two 30+ point outings over the last five games…Sabally is shooting 50.7 percent (34-of-67) from three in Pac-12 play…Erin Boley is shooting an equal 50.7 percent (36-of-71) in Pac-12 play…Oregon defeated Cal in back-to-back games for the first time since 2006…Oregon has scored 100+ points six times this season…Maite Cazorla had nine assists, her highest total in a league game this season.
