Day One in the Books at Aztec Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon track and field team opened its outdoor season Friday at the SDSU Aztec Invitational, posting a win, two runner-up showings and a personal best along the way. Led by redshirt freshman Soren Knudsen, the Ducks capped the day with a 1-2-3 finish at 3,000 meters.
Saturday's full slate of events is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (PT) with the women's javelin. Running events start at 9:50 a.m. with the 4x100-meter relays. To follow the Ducks throughout the day, click HERE for live results and follow @OregonTF for in-meet updates.
Knudsen cleared by the field by more than four seconds in his first outdoor race as a Duck. He crossed the finish line in a time of 8:25.25 and was followed by teammates Austin Tamagno and Levi Thomet, respectively.
In the first result of Friday night's distance carnival, junior Jackson Mestler was third among collegiate runners (3:54.75) and eighth overall at 1,500 meters.
The Aztec Invitational began Friday morning with the hammer throw where junior Maddie Rabing was second and sophomore Jared Briere turned in a personal-best mark. Rabing bettered last year's season opener with a day's best of 58.12m/190-8 in her final attempt of the day. Meanwhile, Briere added a foot to his PR with a toss of 54.88m/180-0 in the fourth round.
