Ducks Collect PRs, Top-10 Marks in Cali

EUGENE, Ore. – With the team split between three California meets Friday, the Ducks delivered with five top-10 program marks, 10 personal bests and 10 top-three results including three wins. Oregon had entries at the Beach Invitational (throws) in Long Beach, Cardinal Invitational (distance) in Palo Alto and Mt. SAC Relays (sprints/jumps).
Junior Maddie Rabing got things started with a lifetime best of 61.71m/202-5 in the hammer throw. She already owned the No. 4 performance in program history but added just under two feet to that mark. In the javelin, redshirt sophomore Alexis Rigmaiden added her name to the Oregon records book at No. 10 all-time with her throw of 50.68m/166-3.

For a third-consecutive meet, redshirt senior John Nizich posted a season's best in the javelin. He got the implement out to 67.38m/221-1 on his second attempt to finish 10th in the event.
Junior Rhesa Foster improved her career standing in the long jump at Oregon. On her final pass down the runway at Mt. SAC, she had a measure of 6.35m/20-10 to establish an outdoor best and move from 10th to sixth on the program list. Earlier in the day, she set a personal best in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles.
In that hurdle competition, the Ducks advanced two to the final with Emily Sloan and Kaylah Robinson. Sloan posted a runner-up time of 13.26 which set a new PR and made her the No. 4 performer on the Oregon top-10 list. Robinson had a season-best time of her own (13.46) to finish fifth in the final.
Senior transfer Oraine Palmer paced the men's sprinters with his third-place finish at 100 meters. He was the second-overall qualifier from the prelim with a barely windy 10.38 (+2.3). Palmer is scheduled to return to the track Saturday for the invitational sections of the 200 meters and as part of the Oregon 4x100-meter relay.
At the Cardinal Classic, the Women of Oregon swept the top-two sections of the 800 meters beginning with a personal best of 2:06.23 for freshman Taylor Chiotti in section two. Two weeks removed from a PR (2:03.09) in the event, senior Susan Ejore pulled away from the pack over the final 150 meters for the win in 2:04.07.
In the final event of a long day, sophomore Cooper Teare knocked more than 13 seconds off his lifetime best at 5,000 meters and crossed in 13:32.73 as the event runner-up. The performance put Teare within two seconds of busting into the program's top-10 list.
On the women's side, Amanda Gehrich entered the day with a 5K personal best of 16:32.34 from last year's Stanford Invitational. She improved upon that time Friday, taking nearly 20 seconds off that mark in 16:12.65 which was good for sixth in the top section.
