Ducks Set to Host Pac-12 Championship

THIS WEEK
Oregon will host the Pac-12 Championship April 22-24 at Eugene Country Club. This will be the sixth time that the Ducks will host the event in its 60-year history and the first time since 2007. Oregon has won the conference team title three times, with the last coming in 2017. The first two rounds will be played on Monday beginning at 7:15 a.m. while single rounds will be played on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The Pac-12 Network will have live coverage during the final round beginning at 2 p.m. Edwin Yi, Ryan Gronlund, Yin Ho Yue, Craig Ronne, Tom Gueant and Donald Kay will make up the Ducks' lineup. The five best of the team's six scores will be counted each round.
THE FIELD
Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Oregon (host), Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Utah, USC, Washington and Washington State.
LAST TIME OUT
Oregon had three freshmen finish in the top 30 as the Ducks came in tied for sixth at the Western Intercollegiate. Yin Ho Yue had a career-best 14th-place finish shooting even par for the week, highlighted by a season-low 3-under 67 in the opening round. Craig Ronne placed tied for 17th and was in the top five after each of the first two rounds, shooting a 3-under 67 in the opening round and an even-par 70 in round two. Tom Gueant finished strong with a career-low 1-under 69 after a 73 and 72 in the first two rounds to come in tied for 26th. The Ducks got off to a solid start, shooting 2 under in round one to sit in a tie for second, but shot 9 over in round two and 8 over in the final round.
DUCKS HAVE DEPTH
Oregon has gotten contributions up and down the lineup all season. Five different players have a top-10 finish this year, while six players have a top-20 finish. Seven players have competed in at least half of the rounds this season while all but two on the roster have been a part of the lineup at least once.
SENIOR LEADERS
Ryan Gronlund is second on the team in scoring average and is the only player to compete in every event. He got his first collegiate win at the Duck Invitational, shooting 5 under. Gronlund also had a streak of three top-10 finishes at The Prestige (10th), Bandon Dunes Championship (T9th) and the Duck Invitational (1st). Edwin Yi leads the team in scoring average at 70.88 and is eighth in the conference heading into the week. He came in tied for second at the Amer Ari Invitational, finishing behind only collegiate No. 1 player Matthew Wolff of Oklahoma State, and came in ahead of a number of other highly-ranked players, including Viktor Hovland of Oklahoma State and USC's Justin Suh.
COMPETING WITH THE BEST
Oregon has bested a number of top teams throughout the spring, going against strong fields in each of its five events. At the Amer Ari Invitational, the Ducks came in tied for fourth and finished ahead of then No. 2 Georgia Tech and tied with No. 6 USC A week later at The Prestige, the Ducks finished in fifth place, coming in ahead of No. 14 Arkansas and other quality teams in Iowa State, Northwestern and Stanford. Oregon finished ahead of then No. 16 SMU at The Goodwin in March.
