Dail Wins Second Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week Award
04/22/19 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Jordan Dail has been named the Pac-12 pitcher of the week for the second time this month after a phenomenal weekend against California, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Dail was near flawless all weekend, holding the Golden Bears scoreless over 20.2 total innings while racking up 22 strikeouts and allowing just 13 hits. The left-hander threw back-to-back complete-game shutouts to lead the Ducks to the series win before throwing 6.2 shutout innings of relief in the finale.
The Forest, Va., native recorded 11 strikeouts in a 1-0 win on Thursday, including 10 with runners in scoring position. Dail surpassed 300 strikeouts for her career on Thursday and then exceeded 200 strikeouts on the season on Saturday.
Dail is second in the Pac-12 and 15th in the nation with 202 strikeouts this season, just one shy of cracking the UO single-season top-10 list with 11 games still to play in the regular season. Oregon's ace leads the Pac-12 in innings pitched with 188.1, 44.0 more than any other pitcher, and is also first in games started (28) and appearances (34). Her 16 wins rank fifth in the conference.
This is Dail's second Pac-12 pitcher of the week honor in the last three weeks and the fourth weekly award of the season for Oregon.
Dail and the Ducks will be back in action at Jane Sanders Stadium on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Portland State beginning at 4 p.m.
