Ducks Add Transfer Rachel Williams

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon head coach Chelsea Gamble announced the signing of transfer defender Rachel Williams Wednesday for the 2020 season.
"We are thrilled to add Rachel to the Oregon Lacrosse Program," said Gamble. "She brings a wealth of experience, competitiveness and character to our program."
Williams spent the last two seasons at Stony Brook where she played 29 games. She started all 21 matches as a sophomore for a Seawolves team that went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and beat a number of quality opponents including Colorado, Johns Hopkins and USC.
"I'm really excited to join this team and be a part of the Pac-12," said Williams. "The coaches and players welcomed me with open arms and I'm looking forward to continuing my collegiate career as a Duck."
The Pasadena, Md. native caused 19 turnovers and recorded 11 ground balls in 2019 to help lead Stony Brook to both the America East Conference regular season and tournament titles. She was a key part of a Seawolves' defense that finished third in the nation in goals allowed per game at 7.95.
As a freshman, Williams played in eight games off the bench for a Stony Brook team that was ranked No. 1 in the country for most of the season. She was a four-year letterman at Chesapeake High School and was a three-time all-county selection.
