Edwards Takes on USATF U20 Championships
06/21/19 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Having just completed his freshman season, Eric Edwards Jr. has traveled to Miramar, Fla., for the 2019 USATF U20 Championships. The Pac-12 champion in the 110-meter hurdles and two-time NCAA qualifier will begin competition Saturday afternoon.
The opening round of the 110-meter hurdles is scheduled for 12:18 p.m. (PT). The winner of each of the three heats plus the next five-fastest runners advance to the final later that day at 3:28 p.m.
During his standout freshman campaign, Edward ran a season-best 13.49 in the NCAA Championships semifinal. With that performance, he established the No. 1 junior time in the world in 2019 and moved to fourth in Oregon history.
Edwards opened his postseason with a conference title at the Pac-12 Championships in Tucson, Ariz. He stopped the clock in 13.59 for the win and the Ducks' third title in the past four years. Edwards posted an indoor best of 7.69 in the 60-meter hurdles, a time also good for No. 4 on the program's all-time list.
