EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Shannon Williams was named one of Oregon's two Tom Hansen Medal winners by the Pac-12 Conference Tuesday. Ryan Gronlund of the men's golf team is the other recipient of the honor.
Â
Williams earned the recognition as the university's outstanding senior female student-athlete based on achievements both on and off the field. Earlier this year, she was named the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year in addition to being selected first-team all-conference.
Â
The Bel Air, Md. native is Oregon's career record holder in points (252), goals (158), points per game (3.63) and goals per game (2.29). She also leaves the program as its all-time leader in shot attempts (353) while finishing third in school history in assists (94).
Â
Williams also set numerous single-season records in her time at Oregon. She set the program record for points in a single season with 72 as a sophomore before breaking her own record with 74 points during her junior season. Williams also set the school record for points per game (4.24) in 2017 and then-school records for goals (51) and shot attempts (112).
Â
A four-year starter for the Ducks, Williams has received conference all-academic honors three times in her career. She was named MPSF All-Academic as a sophomore before receiving first-team all-academic recognition from the Pac-12 as both a junior and senior. Williams was also named second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large in 2017 as a sophomore.
