06/29/19 | Women's Volleyball
The Oregon volleyball team recently wrapped up an 11-day European tour with stops in the Czech Republic (Prague), Austria (Vienna), Slovenia (Maribor) and Italy (Venice and Milan). Now back in Eugene, setter Kylie Robinson goes over the Ducks' final days in Milan and gives some of her favorite memories from the trip.

Hello, Duck fans! Its Kylie again here to fill you in on our last couple of days in Milan.
Starting off at 11:00 am the team and I headed out to Lake Como. This is a famous lake known for its upside-down "y"shaped branches as well as its amazing food and mythical (or so they say) water monster named Larrie. Here at Lake Como, we saw amazing views of the water and restaurants nearby from almost every angle. I, still afraid of heights, opted out of some of the options we could do, one being riding up the side of a steep mountain in a gondola, and the second being a ride around Lake Como in a boat, but from those who did partake in those activities said that they were beautiful.

After Lake Como, we headed back to the city where we hopped on a bus headed towards the city. Once we reached our stop we got off and walked through Sempione Park, the largest city park in Milan, said to be completely free of the noises of the city thanks to the sound barrier created by the trees surrounding the park. From here we walked straight towards the Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) that was built in the 15th century, and my favorite part had a moat around the perimeter.

After walking through the castle, to my surprise, we arrive only minutes away from the Duomo where we were given free time before dinner to walk around and shop. Luckily for me, I had some Starbucks fanatics in my group who exactly where to go. Before we knew it we were being greeted by the cool air conditioning and an inviting doorman saying "Welcome The Starbucks Reserve". The two floor Starbucks was by far the biggest I had ever seen before, and way prettier than anything you would expect.

After spending a few hours there cooling off some more we headed to dinner, and after a jam-packed day, I was ready to relax. Walking up to the restaurant I was a little confused as to where they were going to sit a group of our size, but the hostess walked us upstairs to a secluded room where we were all able to sit together and enjoy each other's company as we ate pizza and shared laughs.
Back at the hotel, shortly thereafter, we said our goodbyes to the best host, Kiki, and the best experience. We packed our things that night and got ready for the 10-hour flight back home early in the morning. Luckily with this group no matter where we go it is always a good time, and luckily for Samantha Berman, one of our team managers, the movie "The Sound of Music" was available to watch on the flight, so she could watch it for the third time before we left Europe!
Overall, this trip was definitely one for the books! With such an amazing group of people putting it together, a great bunch of girls, tough competition, and tons of sightseeing, Europe was by far an experience I will never forget. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible, I'm quite confident in saying we will remember and cherish these memories forever. Signing out for the last time, Go Ducks!!
