07/22/19 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-consecutive year, 17 members of the Ducks' track and field team collected USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades as announced by the organization Monday. Additionally, the Women of Oregon earned a collective team honor for their work in the classroom.
Nine of Oregon's 17 selections post a 3.5 or higher, headlined by Weronika Pyzik (3.86) and Max Vollmer (3.81). Vollmer is the reigning Pac-12 champion in the decathlon.
In addition to competition criteria, student-athletes have to carry a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher to earn all-academic distinction. For team consideration, programs had to maintain a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher; the Women of Oregon finished with a combined 3.20 mark.
Pyzik is joined by teammates Phily Bowden, Iman Brown, Carmela Cardama Baez, Rhesa Foster, Amanda Gehrich, Jessica Hull, Khadejah Jackson, Kiana Phelps, Maddie Rabing, Alexis Rigmaiden and Emily Sloan.
For the men, Vollmer is listed alongside Max Lydum, Jackson VanVuren, James West and Jack Yearian.
Among the Ducks honored, Hull was recently voted a Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team performer. During the 2019 campaign, she was a two-time NCAA indoor champion (3,000m and DMR), Pac-12 champion and NCAA outdoor runner-up at 1,500 meters. Gehrich also won an NCAA title as the opening leg of Oregon's distance-medley relay.
