EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon head coach Chelsea Gamble announced the addition of sophomore transfer midfielder Brooke Rooney Tuesday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Brooke into our program," said Gamble. "Her lacrosse knowledge, creativity and competitiveness will be a great addition to our roster. We are eager to have her in Eugene to see her contribute to our future success."
Rooney comes to Oregon after playing her freshman season at North Carolina. She appeared in six games and recorded three assists while finishing with three caused turnovers and four shot attempts.
"I am so grateful to have the opportunity to study and play lacrosse at the University of Oregon," said Rooney. "The coaching staff and players have been very supportive which I greatly appreciate and I am excited to experience life in Oregon and the university's unmatched spirit. It's an honor to be a Duck."
The Plaistow, N.H. native recorded an assist in three different games last year, including wins over Elon, Campbell and Louisville. She attempted three shots, one on goal, while causing a turnover and securing a draw control in a win over East Carolina on February 17. Rooney spent her high school career at Brewster Academy where she lettered four years each in lacrosse, soccer and basketball.
