The best player in the nation played one of the greatest games of her storied career in Thursday's 87-55 blowout win over No. 3 Stanford. Sabrina Ionescu erupted for a career-high 37 points while matching her career-high with 14 field goals, and the senior superstar added 11 rebounds and seven assists while leading the Ducks in their most complete performance so far this season. Ionescu's career night gave her 2,265 career points, moving her past Allison Lang (2,252, 1980-84) for the Oregon all-time scoring record that stood for 36 years. The reigning national player of the year also moved past 900 career rebounds as she continues her quest to become the first NCAA men's or women's player ever to reach 2,000 career points (2,265), 1,000 rebounds (904) and 1,000 assists (928). Ionescu's 37 points - the ninth-most in UO single-game history - broke her previous career-high of 36 points, which also came against Stanford in the 2018 Pac-12 Tournament title game.

Statement Win
Oregon's 87-55 win over No. 3 Stanford on Thursday marked the Ducks' first top-10 win of the season, and the eighth since Kelly Graves took over the program in 2014-15. Though still early in the conference schedule, the Ducks' statement win could have longterm implications as they continue their quest for a third straight Pac-12 regular season title and try to build their case for a berth in the NCAA Tournament regional to be played at the Moda Center in Portland.
Series History (UO leads, 40-33)
Oregon enters Sunday's game with a 40-33 lead in the all-time series against Cal, having won the lone meeting each of the last two seasons. The Ducks have won four of the last six matchups after the Golden Bears won 19 of 22 from 2/4/06 to 2/26/15. Oregon recorded a 105-82 win over Cal last season in Berkeley, fueled by 31 points from Satou Sabally and 27 from Sabrina Ionescu.
About the Golden Bears (8-8, 0-5)
Cal comes to Eugene having lost five straight after getting off to an 8-3 start that included an 84-80 win over then-No. 20 Arkansas on 11/24/19. The Bears are led by senior Jaelyn Brown, who ranks No. 7 in the Pac-12 with 15.3 PPG. Four more players average at least 7.0 PPG, and CJ West leads the way on the boards with 6.8 RPG. Cal is averaging 67.3 PPG while allowing 66.9 PPG
Sabally Rounding Into Form
Satou Sabally missed the first three games of the regular season while playing overseas with the German Women's National Team, but the junior made her presence felt immediately with 23 points in her season-debut on 11/24/19 at No. 17 Syracuse and is returning to her all-Pac-12 form following back-to-back impressive performances. After a minor lull that saw her combine for 17 total points against Utah and Arizona State, Sabally has scored 18 points in each of the Ducks' last two games and is averaging 14.8 points and 6.7 rebounds with nine double-digit scoring efforts in 12 games so far this season. Sabally was a career-best 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in Oregon's top-25 road win over No. 18 Arizona on 1/12/20, and she posted her sixth career double-double and second this season with 18 points and a season-high 11 rebounds in Thursday's win over No. 3 Stanford.

Ionescu, Moore Lead Dynamic Offense
The Ducks boast one of the nation's most dynamic and efficient offenses, which is directed by senior guards Sabrina Ionescu and Minyon Moore. Oregon leads the NCAA with a 1.77 assist-to-turnover ratio, with Moore ranking second nationally at 4.350and Ionescu seventh at 3.09. The Ducks are No. 4 in the country with 21.1 assist per game behind Ionescu's NCAA-leading 8.5 APG, and Moore is second on the team at 4.5 APG. UO leads the Pac-12 and is No. 9 nationally with 11.9 turnovers per game.
Ionescu Climbing Up All-Time Assists List
Sabrina Ionescu continued her year of milestones with another big one in UO's win over Colorado on 1/3/20. With seven assists, the senior superstar hit 900 even for her career to become just the 12th player in the history of NCAA women's basketball to join the 900 assists club. Ionescu enters Sunday's game with 928 career assists, good for No. 9 on the NCAA WBB all-time list, and she is only 11 assists away from passing Gary Payton (938) for the Pac-12 all-time record for both men and women.
Hebard Joins 2K Club
Ruthy Hebard reached a big milestone on 1/3/20 against Colorado, becoming just the fifth player in Oregon history to surpass 2,000 career points, along with teammate Sabrina Ionescu. Hebard enters Sunday's with 2,062 points, and she is the only active NCAA player to have 2,000+ career points and 1,000+ career rebounds (1,134). Hebard is one of only 12 players in Pac-12 history to reach the 2,000/1,000 milestone, and she and Ionescu are two of just three active 2,000-point scorers in the nation. On the season, Hebard is averaging 16.5 points and a team-best 9.5 rebounds per game with seven double-doubles.

Shooting The Lights Out
Oregon is among the nation's most efficient shooting teams entering Thursday's game, ranking No. 2 in the NCAA with a 50.0 field goal percentage. One of the biggest factor's in Oregon's efficiency has been its dominance in the paint, where the Ducks own a 286-point advantage and have outscored their opponents every game so far, including a 56-16 advantage over Colorado and a 50-18 advantage against Utah. Ruthy Hebard has elevated Oregon's field goal percentage a great deal as the senior post ranks No. 4 in the nation individually with a 67.8 shooting percentage. From three-point range, the Ducks rank No. 8 in the nation with 9.3 threes per game and No. 35 with a 35.8 shooting percentage from behind the arc.
This is the Greatest Show
The Ducks are a perfect 9-0 at home this season, and one of the biggest reasons for UO's home success is the team's popularity in and around Eugene. Oregon is No. 2 in the nation in both average attendance (10,101) and total attendance (90,908), and those figures don't even include the 11,530 fans who came to watch the Ducks take down the USA Women's National Team on 11/9/19, or the 9,447 who attended the 12/28/19 exhibition game against Corban. The Ducks drew a near-sellout crowd of 12,218 on 1/16/20, and next week's Civil War battle against Oregon State is already sold out.
Ramping Up The Defensive Intensity
The Ducks are clearly one of the nation's premiere offensive teams, but they have made it a point over the last several games of turning up the intensity on the defensive end as well. Oregon has held eight of its last nine opponents under 65 points, including three to 46 points or less, and have recorded 84 total steals and 26 blocked shots while forcing 150 total turnovers over the last nine games. The Ducks' defensive improvement was sparked by a new three-quarter court press implemented during the South Dakota State game, when the Ducks held the Jackrabbits to just 37.2 percent shooting while forcing 13 turnovers, including 10 in the first half. Oregon matched its season-high with 21 forced turnovers in its Pac-12 opener against Colorado and had 18 on Thursday vs. No. 3 Stanford, and the Ducks are up to No. 28 nationally in scoring defense at 56.6 PPG allowed.

Ducks Boast Improved Depth
Depth was one of Oregon's biggest issues in 2018-19, but the Ducks' bench is much deeper in 2019-20. Jaz Shelley has come on in a big way, erupting for 32 points and a UO record 10 three-pointers on 12/16 against UC Riverside after a 17-point game on 12/14 at Long Beach State. Taylor Chavez has matched Shelley with four double-figure scoring games, headlined by a career-high 25 points on 11/13 vs. Utah State. Lydia Giomi had a career-high 18 points in the season-opener, and Holly Winterburn was the Pac-12 freshman of the Week on 12/9 after dropping 17 points against South Dakota State. As a team, Oregon has had nine different players combine for 59 double-digit scoring performances.
Up Next
Oregon will face one of its biggest weekends of the season next week when the Ducks take on No. 8 Oregon State twice in three days. The Ducks will host the first Civil War matchup on Friday night before playing Sunday afternoon in Corvallis.
