The Ducks collected five wins and 27 personal bests at the UW Indoor Preview (Jan. 18) in Seattle. Oregon swept the 60 meters with the victories by Gaston Bouchereau and Brianna Duncan. The team also had wins from Rieker Daniel (200m), Susan Ejore (1,000m) and Tori Sloan (high jump).
Out of the Blocks
Redshirt junior Gaston Bouchereau began his Oregon career with a 6.64 performance in the prelims of the 60 meters. That time puts him at No. 4 on the Oregon top-10 list. The Ducks got another top-10 UO showing from Brianna Duncan with her 7.27 to win the 60 meters in the season opener. She moved to No. 9 on the program's all-time rankings.
That's a Record
Carmela Cardama Baez got an early start to the indoor season with a school-record effort in the 5,000 meters at the BU Opener. When she crossed the finish, she did so in a time of 15:25.41 which took nearly 15 seconds off the previous mark of 15:40.30 set by Jordan Hasay in 2013. Cardama Baez came into the race with a personal best of 15:55 from 2018.
