Boley, Prince Named to Preseason All-Conference Team
11/17/20 | Women's Basketball
SAN FRANCISCO – Senior Erin Boley and sophomore Sedona Prince were named to the 15-player preseason all-conference team while Oregon was picked to finish the 2020-21 season in the top three in the Pac-12, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Jaz Shelley and juniors Taylor Chavez and Taylor Mikesell received honorable mention status after being named on four or more ballots for the preseason all-conference team. The Ducks lead the league with five players appearing on at least four ballots.
Oregon was picked to tie for second with Arizona this season by the league's coaches while being projected to finish third behind the Wildcats by the media, with Stanford the preseason favorite to win the conference in both polls. The Ducks enter 2020-21 with hopes of capturing a fourth straight regular-season conference championship.
The Ducks are one of five Pac-12 teams ranked in the preseason AP top-25 poll at No. 10, along with No. 2 Stanford, No. 7 Arizona, No. 9 UCLA and No. 18 Oregon State. The Bruins and Beavers were picked to finish fourth and fifth in the league, respectively, by both the coaches and the media.
Boley is the lone returning starter for the Ducks while Prince is set to make her collegiate debut after sitting out 2019-20 following her transfer from Texas. Chavez – the 2020 Pac-12 sixth player of the year – and Shelley will see their roles expand after playing well as the first two players off the bench last season, and Mikesell adds another lethal shooter to Oregon's offense following two terrific years at Maryland.
The league announced on Monday the weekly matchups and site designations for the 2020-21 conference season, which for the first time will feature a full 22-game, double-round robin schedule. Oregon will begin its title defense at home against Colorado and Utah the weekend of Dec. 4-7.
