EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field team capped its weekend in Northwest Arkansas with six more wins on day two of the Razorback Invitational. Among the winners were Cooper Teare and James West, back on the track from their respective legs on Friday's record-breaking distance-medley relay. Saturday's results also featured seven top-10 program marks including three in the women's triple jump.
West and Susan Ejore swept the men's and women's 800 meters, respectively, behind a pair of personal bests. West lowered his PR to 1:49.69 which doubles as the No. 10 mark in program history. Ejore took nearly a full second off her indoor best, lowering her PR time from 2:05.71 to 2:04.77 and solidifying her spot at No. 9 on the UO top-10 list.
For a second-consecutive year, Teare won the invitational section of the mile. He stopped the clock in a time of 4:00.21, just missing the second sub-4:00 mile of his career. He established his personal best of 3:59.21 in last year's victory.
Teare and West were less than 24 hours removed from teaming with Charlie Hunter and Jacob Miller to break the NCAA record in the DMR. The UO quartet set the new collegiate best of 9:24.52 on day one of the Razorback Invitational.
The Men of Oregon continued its dominance in the distance events with wins by senior Jackson Mestler and freshman Cole Hocker in the 3,000 meters. Mestler posted a time of 7:58.89 to win the invitational section while Hocker (8:15.41) earned his first collegiate victory by taking the top spot in the open flight.
Graduate transfer Gabby Beauvais took first place in the timed final of the open 400 meters.
In a runner-up showing at 60 meters, Brianna Duncan lowered her personal best to 7.21 which was down from the 7.24 she ran in Saturday's preliminary round. She entered the meet with a PR of 7.27 from her victory at the UW Indoor Preview (Jan. 18).
Lexi Ellis led a trio of Ducks in the triple jump, all three of which posted top-10 program performances. On her second jump of the day, the sophomore standout measured in at 13.56m/44-6 which stood up for a runner-up finish. Ellis becomes the No. 2 performer in program history and adds nearly three feet to her previous indoor best of 12.75m/41-10 from last year's MPSF Championships.
Behind Ellis, the Women of Oregon got big marks from freshman Dominique Ruotolo (12.97m/42-6.75) and redshirt sophomore Jaimie Robinson (12.29m/40-4) who now rank fourth and eighth, respectively, in Oregon history.
Redshirt junior Maddie Rabing strengthen her spot as the No. 6 UO performer in the weight throw with a personal best of 15.49m/50-10. She finished fourth in the event.
In her first race since breaking the school record at 5,000 meters in December, redshirt senior Carmela Cardama Baez knocked more than 10 seconds off her personal best in the mile. She registered a time of 4:42.13 to finish seventh in the invitational section of the event. Cardama Baez began her indoor season at the BU Opener where she ran 15:25.41 in the 5,000 meters.
