Jumps Crew Improves National Standing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Oregon track and field team registered five personal bests, three top-10 program marks and a win Thursday afternoon at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. Seniors Rhesa Foster and Ben Milligan became the No. 2 indoor UO performers in the long jump and high jump, respectively, with their standout efforts.
Foster led a 1-2 finish in the long jump along with freshman teammate Alysah Hickey. On her fourth attempt of the day, Foster got out to 6.57m/21-6.75 to move from second to first place. In addition to the personal best, Foster's effort moved her from fourth to second on the UO top-10 list, and based on jumps entering the weekend, she moves to No. 2 on the NCAA season performance list.
After two early fouls, Hickey extended her day with a 20-foot jump in the third round. She improved on that with a personal-best mark of 6.20m/20-4.25 effort on her fifth attempt. With her outing, Hickey became the No. 6 performer in UO history and moved into the national top 20 in the event.
Milligan, a redshirt senior, improved on his personal best for a second-consecutive meet, clearing the bar set at 2.22m/7-3.25 which doubles as the No. 2 indoor mark in UO history. Milligan entered the year with an overall PR of 2.20m/7-2.5 from the 2018 OSU High Performance meet. Based on marks heading into the weekend, Milligan's jump ties for No. 11 nationally.
Redshirt junior Kasin Pendergrass Anderson made it an Oregon sweep in the long jump with his victory on the men's side. On his second attempt, he had a day's best mark of 7.50m/24-7.25 which stood up for the win. Pendergrass Anderson was just off his season best (7.56m/24-9.75) from the Razorback Invitational.
The Ducks' lone event on the track Thursday was the 200 meters. On the men's side, junior Rieker Daniel matched his personal best with a 21.21 to finish fourth overall. He led a trio of Ducks in the top 10 along with Oraine Palmer (21.46) and Gaston Bouchereau (21.61) in eighth and ninth place, respectively.
The Women of Oregon swept places three through six in the 200 meters, paced by senior Danyel White. She won her heat in a season best of 23.68 to finish third overall. White was followed closely by Brianna Duncan (23.82), Iman Brown (23.826) and Hannah Waller (23.829) inside the top 10.
In the first result of the weekend, redshirt freshman Max Vollmer posted a personal-best clearance of 4.92m/16-1.75 in the pole vault. He was the top collegiate in the field and finished second overall.
Up Next: The Ducks resume action in Albuquerque on Friday at 8:30 a.m. (PT), beginning with qualifying rounds of the 60-meter hurdles. The distance and throws crews will also get started at the Husky Classic in Seattle. The first-day schedule features invitational sections of the 3,000 and 5,000 meters.
