Ducks Add Wins, Top Times in Husky Finale

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon track and field team capped a productive weekend at the Husky Classic with four wins Saturday and several performances that will affect the national qualifying list. The Ducks also turned in four top-10 program performances.
At season's end, the top-16 declared individuals—and 12 relays—will advance to the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships (March 13-14) in Albuquerque, N.M.
Less than 24 hours removed from a personal-best outing at 3,000 meters, redshirt senior James West stopped the clock in 3:57.43 to win the mile. The time also moves the UO standout from ninth to No. 5 on the program's top-10 list. Based on times entering the day, West's time stands as the sixth fastest in the NCAA this season.
The Men of Oregon finished 1-4 in Saturday's mile with Charlie Hunter crossing in 3:59.01 for the second sub-4:00 effort of his UO career. Hunter's time will hang around the bubble for the top 16 on the NCAA descending-order list.
West was back on the track after posting a 7:47.10 in the 3,000 meters Friday night, a time currently ranked third in the country. Among collegians in that race, he finished only behind teammate Cooper Teare (7:46.45).
The Ducks' final win of the weekend came from freshman Luis Peralta who clocked a 1:48.69 and held off the pack to win the 800 meters. The time is a top-10 national mark this season and makes Peralta the No. 5 performer in UO history. The Passaic, N.J., native entered the meet with a 1:51.45 season best.
Redshirt senior Susan Ejore collected her second top-10 national effort of the year with a personal-best time of 4:34.68 to finish fourth overall in the mile. She was second among collegians in the field. Coming into the race, Ejore already owned a No. 6 NCAA ranking (2:04.77) in the 800 meters.
Oregon's first top-10 program mark Saturday came from redshirt junior Maddie Rabing in the shot put. For a second-consecutive meet, she improved her PR and moved up to No. 5 in UO history with a toss of 15.90m/52-2 in the fifth round. She and teammate Kiana Phelps (15.75m/51-8.25) finished 4-5 in the competition.
Fellow freshman Kwabena Lynn picked up a win in the 60 meters. He ran 6.85 in the prelims to advance, and then ran 6.88 to secure the victory in the two-section timed final. The Women of Oregon secured a victory in the triple jump from redshirt sophomore Jaimie Robinson. On her third attempt, she got out to 12.20m/40-0.5 and was the only jumper in the field over 40 feet.
