Cid Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors

SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon sophomore third baseman Rachel Cid was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week Tuesday coming off of a stellar weekend of play at the Houston Classic, the league announced.
The Tracy, Calif. native earned the weekly honor for the first time in her career after hitting .467 with two home runs, eight RBIs and seven runs scored over the four games against Houston and Dayton. She turned in multi-hit and multi-RBI efforts in each of the final three games of the weekend, including back-to-back three-RBI performances in the last two games.
After going 1-for-3 in the opening game of the weekend at Houston, Cid went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a career-high tying four runs scored vs. Dayton in game one of a doubleheader. In game two of the doubleheader against Houston, she went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a home run. Cid gave the Ducks a 3-0 lead with a two-run single in the third inning before leading off the fifth inning with a solo home run to put Oregon in front by two after Houston had come back to tie the game two innings earlier.
The 2019 Pac-12 All-Freshman selection capped off the weekend by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a run scored and a home run against Dayton on Sunday. Cid came up with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the sixth and blasted an opposite-field three-run homer to end the game and a 9-0 Oregon win.
On the season, Cid leads the team with three home runs and is second with 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored. She is also first on the team and fifth in the conference with a .793 slugging percentage while ranking in the top 10 in the Pac-12 in a number of other categories, including batting average, runs scored and on-base percentage.
