EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team won the first home match of the weekend, beating Idaho (5-2) Friday afternoon. The Ducks host Maryland Sunday at 11 a.m.
How it Happened:
The Ducks claimed the doubles point with impressive performances by Julia Eshet/Lillian Mould (6-0) and Uxia Martinez Moral/Myah Petchey (6-0). Rifanty Kahfiani and Paiton Wagner were en route to a victory, but did not finish after the other two doubles wins (5-0, uf).
Oregon secured the match victory with three straight-set singles wins. Uxia Martinez Moral's dominant singles performance over Maggie Chen (6-1, 6-3) gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead. Julia Eshet finished second with a 6-3, 6-2 win and Myah Petchey finished third with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Madisen Olsen beat Shion Watabe in a tiebreaker (6-4, 7-6(7)) to wrap up the day for the Ducks.
