03/01/21 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon women's basketball standouts Te-Hina Paopao and Nyara Sabally were both named to the 15-player all-Pac-12 team on Monday afternoon, while Paopao also earned a spot on the five-player conference all-freshman squad.
Paopao is one of only two first-year players to garner all-Pac-12 recognition, along with freshman of the year Charlisse Leger-Walker (WSU), and she is the first true freshman to earn all-conference honors for Oregon since Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard in 2016-17. Paopao is also the first Duck to be named Pac-12 all-freshman since Satou Sabally in 2017-18.
Sabally received Pac-12 all-defensive honorable mention along with being named to the all-Pac-12 team, and senior Erin Boley was an all-conference honorable mention selection.
Te-Hina Paopao – All-Pac-12, Pac-12 All-Freshman
The first true freshman to start a season opener for the Ducks since Ionescu in 2016-17, Paopao was the only Oregon player to start each of the first 19 games of the season before missing Sunday's contest vs. Oregon State with an injury. Paopao has directed the UO offense to a No. 13 national ranking with a 1.33 assist-to-turnover ratio, and her 2.40 individual mark ranks third among NCAA freshmen. Paopao's 84 total assists currently rank eighth in Oregon freshman single-season history, and she led the Ducks in assists in 15 of the season's first 19 games. The Oceanside, Calif., native is second on the team with 11 double-figure scoring games and third with 10.2 points per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from three-point range. Paopao also leads the Ducks with 27 total steals.
Nyara Sabally – All-Pac-12, Pac-12 All-Defensive Honorable Mention
Finally in action as a redshirt sophomore after missing each of the last two years due to injury, Sabally is one of only two players in the Pac-12 this season to lead their team in points (12.4 PPG), rebounds (7.3 RPG), field goals (95) and blocked shots (22). The 6-foot-5 forward is pacing the Ducks with four double-doubles and 15 double-figure scoring games, including six straight and 13 in her last 14 games entering the Pac-12 Tournament. Sabally went 9-of-9 from the floor in a 20-point, 10-rebound performance vs. Colorado on December 4, tying for the seventh-best individual shooting performance in UO single-game history. The Berlin, Germany, native has also shown off her shooting range in recent weeks, going 3-of-3 from beyond the arc on February 21 at USC and 7-of-12 from deep so far this season.
Erin Boley – All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention
Boley earned all-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition after averaging 10.6 points per game with 4.7 rebounds per game on 47.9 percent shooting during the regular season. Arguably the nation's best three-point shooter the last two seasons, Boley has expanded her game as a senior and has already made more two-point field goals through 19 games (54) than she did all of last season in 33 games (3). Boley is currently tied for fourth in Oregon history with 211 made three-pointers as a Duck.
