EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon women's basketball head coach Kelly Graves continued to add to the Ducks' 2021-22 roster on Friday, officially announcing the signing of transfer guard Ahlise Hurst.
Â
Hurst will join Oregon after spending the first three seasons of her career at New Mexico, where she averaged 11.1 points per game in 80 appearances. She is the second signing this week for the Ducks, who welcomed Georgia State transfer Taylor Hosendove to the program on Wednesday.
Â
A native of Bendigo, Australia, Hurst will be a senior for the Ducks in 2021-22 with two years of eligibility available.
Â
"We are really excited about adding Ahlise to our program," said Graves. "She is a versatile player and a great shooter who has the ability to take over games and have some really big scoring nights. She fits well with our team, and her experience and leadership will be really valuable. Our fans are going to love watching her play. We can't wait for her to get here and get started."
Â
Hurst owns 44 career double-figure scoring performances, including 12 in 18 games as a junior in 2020-21. She has scored 20 points or more eight times in her career, headlined by a 39-point performance vs. Oklahoma as a freshman in 2018-19. She went 14-of-24 from the floor and 9-of-17 from three-point range in that game, breaking the program's single-game scoring record.
Â
As a junior, Hurst averaged 12.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the Lobos, earning all-Mountain West honorable mention recognition. She scored a season-high 21 points on March 5 vs. Colorado State, going 7-of-16 from the floor and adding six rebounds and four assists while playing all 40 minutes. Hurst had multiple steals eight times in 2020-21, including a career-high five vs. Fresno State on March 9.
Â
Hurst played in all 32 games for the Lobos in 2019-20 with 31 starts, ranking 27th nationally in total minutes played (1,125). She led New Mexico with 13.5 points per game and drained 92 total three-pointers, second-most in program single-season history. Hurst ended her sophomore season ninth in the nation in three-pointers made and 17th in three-pointers per game (2.88).
Â
Hurst averaged 7.6 points per game with 49 three-pointers as a freshman, ranking second on the team in both categories. Her 39 points vs. Oklahoma were the most scored by any player in the Mountain West Conference in 2018-19.
Â
Prior to starting her collegiate career, Hurst played in Australia with Vic Country and the Bendigo Braves. She helped Vic Country win an Australian national championship in 2018 while also leading the Bendigo Braves to a South East Australian Basketball League championship. She also played for the Bendigo Spirit of the WNBL.
