EUGENE, Ore. – First year Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling head coach Taylor Susnara completed her coaching staff with the additions of new assistants Emma Carman and Daisha Paulino.
"I am excited to introduce both Daisha and Emma to our Oregon family," Susnara said. "Emma's close attention to detail and Daisha's ability to see the bigger picture create a powerful combination to develop well-rounded student-athletes. Daisha's expertise surrounding tops and tumbling will boost our competitive edge, while Emma's ability to connect with current and future athletes will aid in building a positive, family- oriented culture. Can't wait to see them in action!"
Paulino is a former Hawaii Pacific assistant coach who earned NCATA All-American honors twice as a student-athlete with the Sharks. While at HPU, she managed practice and led the development of the tumbling skill progressions. She also served as the Recreational Program Director at Hawaiian Island Twisters Gymnastics where she developed curriculum and oversaw daily operations.
In 2019, Paulino's first season as an assistant at Hawaii Pacific, she helped her alma mater reach the NCATA National Quarterfinals. Before the 2020 season was canceled, Paulino's Sharks earned a no. 6 national ranking and knocked off no. 5 Gannon.
Carman joins the Oregon staff from Quinnipiac University, where she served as the program's manager for three years. She created and executed social media content for the Bobcats and directed camps and clinics for the program.
A New Englander, Carman will be the Ducks primary recruiter on the east coast. She will also coach utility players and work alongside athletic performance, student-athlete development, and communications to ensure that acrobatics and tumbling student-athletes develop holistically during their time in Eugene.
The Ducks finished the 2021 season with a 2-3 record, including a win over then-no. 1 Baylor. Oregon qualified for the 2021 NCATA National Championships as the no. 3 seed. The 2021-22 team returns one All-American and several key contributors for the upcoming season.
