Avrit Shares Individual Title at Cal Poly Invite
11/01/22 | Men's Golf
CARMEL, Calif. – Owen Avrit shot a 2-under 70 Tuesday and finished at 10-under 206 to share medalist honors at the Cal Poly Invitational.
It was the best finish as a Duck for Avrit, who tied for first with Adam Wallin of Ohio State.
"Owen was so steady," said Oregon head coach Casey Martin. "He made very few mistakes this week.
"We are proud of him and what he is accomplishing."
No. 24 Oregon finished sixth at 1-under 863.
How It Happened: In challenging weather conditions that got progressively worse as the round went on, Avrit had three birdies and 14 pars with just one bogey. He took advantage of relatively calm conditions to birdie twice in his first three holes. After that, Avrit managed his way around the course with one more birdie and one bogey. He parred his final six holes.
The Ducks also counted a 74 from Greg Solhaug and a 75 from Aiden Krafft. Solhaug tied for 13th at 2-under 214, while Krafft tied for 39th at 4-over 220.

Head Coach Casey Martin
"The team didn't play great. We've got some things to work on. We'll take a quick break and then get back to work and get ready for the spring."
Notable: The win was Avrit's first since the 2019 Husky Classic when he was a freshman at Long Beach State. … Solhaug's finish was his best of the fall.
