04/27/22 | Men's Golf
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Three Duck golfers finished among the top 10 individuals to lead Oregon to a fourth place finish Wednesday at the Pac-12 Championships played at Aldarra Golf Club.
Â
Yuki Moriyama finished third at the Conference tournament for the second year in a row, while Owen Avrit and Nate Stember tied for 10th.
Â
The Ducks had the low round of the day on Wednesday, a 2-under 354 that solidified their fourth-place standing.
Â
How It Happened: Moriyama flirted with the top of the scoreboard in the middle of his round after a birdie on No. 11 pulled him within a stroke of the leaders. He played bogey-free golf the rest of the way and finished two strokes back of individual medalist Noah Woolsey of Washington.
Â
"Awesome for Yuki," said head coach Casey Martin. "He had been struggling a bit early in the year but has worked his tail off to get back on track."
Â
Woolsey won at 8-under 276, followed by Barclay Brown of Stanford at 277 and Moriyama at 6-under 278 following a 1-under 70 in the final round.
Â
Avrit and Stember tied for 10th at 2-over 286. Stember carded an even-par 71 on Wednesday while Avrit had a 2-over 73
Â
Greyson Leach led Oregon with a 3-under 68 on Wednesday. The freshman had four birdies in the final round and tied for 28th at 8-over 292.
Â
The Ducks also counted 1-over 72 rounds from Eric Doyle and Greg Solhaug on the final day. Solhaug shot an eagle on the par-5 12th hole to go with three birdies.
Â
No. 8 Washington won the title at 2-over 1,422. No. 17 Stanford was second at plus-5, followed by No. 4 Arizona State at plus-10. The Ducks were two strokes back of the Sun Devils, with California (plus-26) and UCLA (plus-34) rounding out the top half of the field.
