NEW YORK — Oregon senior Alex Forsyth has been named to the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy, the award that honors the top center in college football.
Â
Forsyth is on the preseason watch list for the second year in a row, and is one of five Pac-12 centers to be selected. The Ducks have had a finalist for the Rimington Trophy three times in program history – Max Unger in 2008, and Hroniss Grasu in 2013 and 2014.
Â
A native of West Linn, Ore., Forsyth has been a second-team Pac-12 all-conference selection by the league's coaches each of the last two seasons. He played in 10 of Oregon's 14 games in 2021 while battling a midseason injury, starting nine at center for an offense that ranked in the top 25 nationally with 202.26 rushing yards per game and tied for sixth with 36 rushing touchdowns.
Â
Forsyth earned a 69.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus in 2021, with a 72.6 pass-blocking grade and a 71.4 run-blocking grade while playing 647 snaps at center. He was the Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week following Oregon's historic upset win at No. 3 Ohio State, recording six knockdowns and earning an 82.4 pass-blocking grade from PFF.
