AT A GLANCE
Oregon concludes its three-game road trip Sunday at No. 3 Stanford after taking down California Friday, 78-73. Sunday's game will be the only meeting between the Ducks and Cardinal during the regular season.
Stanford equals the highest ranked team that the Ducks will face, as Oregon also met then-No. 3 Ohio State at the San Diego Invitational just before Christmas. The Cardinal will be the sixth ranked team Ducks have faced this season, going 1-4 against ranked teams so far this season.
Oregon and Stanford have split the last 10 meetings, while the Cardinal have claimed the last four after the Ducks had won three straight in the series. Stanford leads the all-time series, 59-14, with a 30-3 home record.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks snapped their second two-game losing streak of the season at California Friday, 78-73, marking the Ducks' smallest margin of victory this season.
In a game UO trailed 35-33 at halftime, the Ducks withstood 30 lead changes and 12 ties to earn their second Pac-12 road win. Grace VanSlooten paced all scorers with 20 points to go with nine rebounds. Freshman Chance Gray added 12 points behind 10-for-10 from the free throw line and knocked down all six of her free throws in the fourth quarter.
All five Oregon starters cracked double-digit points, with Endyia Rogers adding 18 and Te-Hina Paopao scoring 13.
SCOUTING STANFORD
Stanford pulled out a 63-60 win over Oregon State Friday night, extending its winning streak to three games. The Cardinal (20-2, 8-1) have dropped just one game in conference this season, a 55-46 decision at USC on Jan. 15. Stanford is 13-1 at home, with its only setback coming against No. 1 South Carolina in overtime back on Nov. 20.
The Cardinal are led by a trio of players who score in double figures: Cameron Brink (14.5), Haley Jones (13.7) and Hannah Jump (12.0). Brink nearly averages a double-double, leading the team with 9.8 rebounds a contest.
As a team, Stanford is third in the Pac-12 at 78.6 points per game while leading the league with 46.6 rebounds a contest. The Cardinal's plus-16.2 rebounding margin is third in the nation and best in the Pac-12.
Defensively, Stanford averages a conference-best 6.6 blocks a game (No. 3 nationally) and limits teams to 33.5 shooting from the field (No. 4 nationally).
INSIDE THE SERIES
Dating back to 1981, Stanford holds a 59-14 lead in the all-time series. The Cardinal have won four straight meetings with Oregon, snapping the Ducks' three-game winning streak in the series. Sunday's meeting, which is the only game between the teams in the regular season, will mark the ninth straight in which Stanford is ranked in the nation's top 10, and sixth time in the top five.
Oregon is 3-30 on the road against the Cardinal while head coach Kelly Graves is 6-11 against Stanford in his Oregon career. The Ducks last won a true road game at Stanford on Feb. 24, 2020, as defeating a then-fourth-ranked team 74-66. The sides have split the last 10 matchups overall, going back to 2018.
OREGON vs. RANKED TEAMS
No. 3 Stanford marks the sixth top-25 opponent Oregon has faced this season, as four of the Ducks' six losses have come to top-25 squads. Oregon is 1-4 against top-25 teams this season, with the Ducks' defeating No. 17 Arkansas 85-78 to kick off the San Diego Invitational on Dec. 20. A season ago, the Ducks collected a pair of top-10 wins, including a 68-66 win over No. 7 Arizona. The Ducks have picked up 16 victories over teams in the nation's top 10 in Graves' tenure, with seven coming in the 2019-20 campaign. UO's last road win against a top-25 team came at No. 15 Oregon State on Dec. 13, 2020 (79-59), while the last road victory against a top 10 team came at No. 4 Stanford on Feb. 24, 2020 (74-66).
