Preseason Recognition for Ducks, Bunker

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon will enter the 2023 softball season by making its 40th consecutive appearance in the national polls.
The Ducks are ranked as high as No. 17 in the preseason polls (Extra Inning Softball). Oregon is also ranked No. 22 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, No. 23 by D1 Softball and No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25.
The Ducks have been ranked in every NFCA and USA Softball poll dating to the 2020 preseason poll.
Individually, Allee Bunker has been receiving preseason accolades as both one of the nation's top overall players as well as one of the best in the country at second base.
The two-time all-Pac-12 selection was 75th in D1 Softball's national Top 100 players for 2023. She was that outlet's sixth-best player in the country at second base. Bunker was also tabbed No. 79 in Extra Inning Softball's national Elite 100.
Bunker .361 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 2022. She is the only player in the nation who has hit 10 or more home runs, while striking out seven times or less, each of the last two seasons. She comes into the season having started 123 consecutive games (115 straight at second base).
Additionally, Extra Inning Softball listed Paige Sinicki at No. 19 among its top 20 shortstops in the nation. The sophomore was named to both the Pac-12 all-defensive team and the Pac-12 all-freshman team in 2022.
Oregon opens the 2023 season Feb. 9 against Maryland in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Ducks will also face No. 3 Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Wisconsin and North Dakota State in that tournament.
