Three Ducks Advance to Singles Finals

SAN DIEGO – The Oregon women's tennis team saw Tilde Jagare, Sophie Luescher and Karin Young each win their singles matches for the second straight day, as all advanced to the finals in their respective singles brackets on the second day of the SDSU Fall Classic Saturday.

Luescher put together a straight-set victory over Nevada's Amahee Charrier, 6-3, 7-5, to improve her fall singles record to 8-1. The junior will meet Colorado's Aya El Sayad in Sunday's red singles bracket final.

Jagare and Young each advanced in the white singles bracket. Jagare, a freshmen who earned her first collegiate win Friday, needed three sets to get past Victoria Erechtchenko of Colorado State, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. Young eased by San Diego State's Zoe Olmos, 6-4, 6-1. Rather than playing each other in the bracket's championship match, Jagare and Young will play Erechtchenko and Olmos, respectively.

In consolation contests, Uxia Martinez Moral defeated Pauline Ernstberger from Boise State, 6-3, 6-3 and Jo-Yee Chan won a three-set match to oust the Buffaloes' Ellen Puzak, 6-7 (0), 6-3, 10-7. The Ducks won five of six singles matches Saturday, improving its combined fall singles record to 26-12.

On the doubles side, UO came out victorious in two of three matches. Young and Jagare earned a 6-2 win over CU's Tokac and Elys Ventura. Chan and Nina Geissler advanced past SDSU's Andjela Skrobonja and Gloria Alogo in the red doubles bracket, moving to 2-2 this fall when paired together.

The final day of the SDSU Fall Classic gets underway at 9 a.m. with doubles action, before singles begins at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
