Hansen Named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week
02/27/23 | Softball
SAN FRANCISCO – After winning games against No. 3 Florida, No. 19 Northwestern and No. 24 Missouri, Stevie Hansen has been named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Â
At last week's Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, Hansen went 4-0 with a 1.27 earned run average. She yielded six runs – four earned – on 14 hits in 22.0 innings. Hansen struck out 13 and walked four.
Â
Hansen threw a complete game, one-hit shutout against the Gators. She didn't allow a hit until a two-out single in the sixth inning, and faced just two batters over the minimum. Neither runner advanced past first base. Hansen struck out one batter and did not walk any.
Â
She was just as effective against Northwestern. Hansen retired the first seven batters she faced and her only blemish on the afternoon was a solo home run by Jordyn Rudd in the fourth inning. After the Ducks took the lead in the top of the seventh, Hansen closed the game out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh including a called third strike on Emmie Farnum for the final out of the game. Her final line was one run allowed on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Â
Hansen also got the win in relief against Missouri after getting the Ducks out of a jam in the fifth inning and threw five innings in relief against UC San Diego for her fourth win of the weekend.
Â
This the first career Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week award for Hansen, who has won eight decisions in a row.
