SAN FRANCISCO – Greyson Leach and Gabriel Hari turned in rounds of 2-under 68 to lead No. 20 Oregon in the first round of the Goodwin, played Thursday at TPC Harding Park.
Â
The Ducks were 1-over on the day and stood sixth of 28 teams, eight shots back of No. 7 Stanford.
Â
The Cardinal led the field at 7-under 273, followed by No. 13 Oklahoma (275), No. 11 Georgia Tech (277), Washington and San Francisco (280) and Oregon (281).
Â
How It Happened: Leach had birdies on the first and last hole of both the front nine and the back nine. After birdieing No. 1, Leach had bogeys on the second and sixth holes. A birdie on No. 9 got him back to even, and he ran off seven straight pars between birdies on No. 10 and No. 18 on the back nine.
Â
Hari, a freshman competing as an individual at the Goodwin so his score will not count to the team total, was even on the front nine after opening his round with birdies on the first two holes before giving two shots back with bogeys on No. 7 and No. 8. Hari had a run of three birdies in five holes on the back nine. After birdieing the 11th hole, he bogeyed No. 12, birdied No. 13, recorded a par on No. 14 and wrapped up his run with a birdie on the 15th hole.
Â
The Ducks also counted 70s from Nate Stember and Greg Solhaug and 73 from Owen Avrit.

Quotable
Head Coach Casey Martin
"Solid day. The golf course was long and difficult. The competition was strong as well. We need to play our best golf or the year if we want to get into contention."
Â
Notable: Leach's 68 was his best round of the spring … Hari's five birdies were tied for the second-most on Thursday.
