Ducks Ride Five-Run Fourth to Victory
04/06/23 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – No. 18 Oregon scored five times in the fourth inning and Morgan Scott threw a one-hit shutout as the Ducks defeated Lindenwood, 8-0, in six innings Thursday at Jane Sanders Stadium.
Allee Bunker went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs – two in the fourth – while Paige Sinicki also played a big role in the fourth inning rally with a two-RBI double.
How it Happened: The Ducks (24-11) scored single runs in the second and third innings.
Tehya Bird lined a two-out single the opposite way into right field for an RBI single that scored Ariel Carlson from second to get the Ducks on the board in the second inning. An inning later, Kai Luschar reached base on a bunt single and stole second. Bunker then drove her home with a line drive into center field.

KK Humphreys led off the fourth with a double. Carlson reached on an error and Bird drew a 12-pitch walk to load the bases. Sinicki then doubled down the left field line to bring Humphreys and Carlson home.
"It felt good, seeing all the work I put in pay off," said Sinicki of her first RBI hit of the season.
After a walk to Hanna Delgado, Vallery Wong drove in the Ducks' fifth run of the game with a sacrifice fly to the wall in deep left center field.
Bunker rounded out the scoring in the fourth with a single that plated Sinicki and Delgado.
"I think it's about quality at-bats," said head coach Melyssa Lombardi. "I think that's what makes hitting contagious. It pumps them up to pass one quality at-bat from one person to the next."
Oregon ended the game via the run rule when Terra McGowan's single scored Bunker with the Ducks' eighth run of the game.

That was plenty for Scott, who held Lindenwood (13-19) hitless until a two-out double in the sixth inning. She picked up her seventh win of the season by striking out five and walking two.
"Morgan was great," said Lombardi. "She kept her pitch count low and I thought she got better each inning. She's really coming into her own right now."
Noteworthy: KK Humphreys stole her team-leading 10th base of the season … It was Scott's third shutout of 2023 … Bunker moved into seventh in UO career RBIs with 150 … Kai Luschar has a hit in all three games she has started this season … Lindenwood is a newer Division I program that competes in the Ohio Valley Conference.
