Ducks Headed Back to Bogle
05/14/23 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – For the second straight season, Oregon is headed to Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA Tournament.
The Ducks will be the No. 2 seed at the Fayetteville Regional that will be hosted by Arkansas, the No. 11 overall national seed, Friday through Sunday.
"We're excited to be in postseason," said coach Melyssa Lombardi. "Hearing your name called is something that never gets old.
"These guys have worked had all year. I think our body of work shows what we've done all year and we're just excited to get started."
Oregon will open play Friday at 2 p.m. Pacific time against Notre Dame (ESPN2). Arkansas and Harvard will play the second game on Friday.
"In any regional, regardless of where you play, it's all about your first game," said Lombardi. "Right now the biggest thing for us is to get ready to play Notre Dame."
This is the third straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Ducks under Lombardi and the 23rd NCAA appearance all-time in program history.
The Ducks are 35-15 overall and tied for fourth in the Pac-12 at 14-10.
This will be the first time that Oregon and Notre Dame (27-19-1) have met in the postseason. The Ducks lead the all-time series with the Fighting Irish, 5-2. The two teams last met in 2020.
Oregon and Arkansas played twice in the 2022 NCAA Tournament in Fayetteville with the Razorbacks winning both games. Arkansas leads the overall series, 5-3. The Ducks and Harvard have met once previously, a 6-0 Oregon win in 2008.
"What I like is that the park we're going to play in – we played there. We're familiar with it. To me it doesn't seem that long ago that we were just there."
