Football Practice Recap: Sept. 12

The Ducks are preparing to host Hawai'i on Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Oregon Ducks were back in full pads Tuesday, for the first time since winning at Texas Tech this past weekend to improve to 2-0 this season.
Oregon will host Hawai'i in Autzen Stadium this Saturday at 5 p.m. That will wrap up nonconference play for the Ducks, with the Pac-12 opener against Colorado at home looming the following week.
After practice Tuesday, local media met with offensive lineman Josh Conerly Jr., defensive lineman Taki Taimani, receiver Tez Johnson and defensive back Jahlil Florence. Video of those interviews is embedded below.
Some highlights …
Johnson on catching a TD pass from the QB he grew up with, Bo Nix: "Like I always say, it was a dream. But I know there's many more to come. Just gotta keep working in practice, and time will tell."
Taimani on similarities between Saturday at Texas Tech and last season at WSU: "We said that before it was even over — 'Just like Washington, we've been here.' We never lost faith in our preparation. The D line was like, just like Washington State — and then you see Bassa get the pick (like Mase Funa did in Pullman), and it was like, 'Just like Washington State!'"
Conerly on whether Texas Tech's defense influenced his false start penalties: "That was all me, and my anxiety being too high. I just have to take a deep breath and calm down. … That's something I just have to clean up myself. That's not on anyone else but me. I just have to calm down and play my game, not think too much."
