EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team opens its 2024 spring season Friday at the Student Tennis Center, taking on in-state rival Portland State at 1 p.m. PT.

Sixth-year head coach Courtney Nagle brings back four letterwinners from last year's team in addition to adding four newcomers (two freshmen, two transfers). The Ducks are coming off a strong fall campaign, in which the team posted a combined 29-15 singles record while going 15-11 in doubles over three events.
The doubles team of Sophie Luescher and Uxia Martinez Moral spent the fall ranked as the ITA's 56th-ranked doubles team, and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the ITA Northwest Regionals. Joining Luescher and Martinez Moral in the quarterfinals was the pair of Candela Aparisi and Karin Young.
On the singles side, all seven players who saw action recorded a .500 record or better, led by an 8-2 mark by Luescher. Young finished the fall 5-2 with Aparisi going 4-2. Freshman Tilde Jagare turned in an undefeated weekend at the San Diego State Invitational to win her bracket.
Oregon is 26-0 all-time against Portland State after defeating the Vikings 4-0 to open the 2023 spring season. The sides will meet for the fifth straight season, with Friday's match being the third straight in a season opener.
