Colyer, Ofoegbu Headline Ducks’ All-Americans

Mimi Colyer (2nd), Onye Ofoegbu (3rd) and Michelle Ohwobete (HM) were recognized by the AVCA.
EUGENE, Ore. – On the heels of a postseason run to the regional semifinals, the Oregon volleyball team collected three AVCA All-America accolades as announced Wednesday morning. Mimi Colyer and Onye Ofoegbu earned second- and third-team honors, respectively, while Michelle Ohwobete was recognized as an honorable mention performer.
Colyer becomes a three-time AVCA All-American including two team selections, coupled with her third-team honor in 2022 as a freshman. Colyer also becomes the eighth multiple-time AVCA team selection, joining Gorana Maricic (2007-08), Neticia Enesi (2008-09), Alaina Bergsma (2011-12), Liz Brenner (2012-13), Lindsey Vander Weide (2016, '18), Brooke Nuneviller (2020-22) and Hannah Pukis (2022-23).
With her certificate, Ofoegbu is the 17th player in program history to earn a spot on one of the first three teams, and ninth to do so under head coach Matt Ulmer. Ofoegbu is the fifth UO middle to garner team accolades: Sue Harbour (1984), Enesi (2008-09), Ronika Stone (2018), Kara McGhee (2023) and Ofoegbu.

Colyer accounted for 4.73 points per set this season, a number she pushed to 4.94 during Big Ten play. The Lincoln, Calif., native put down double-digit kills in 28 of 32 matches with five 20-kill performances including a season-high 25 kills against Washington (Oct. 13). She hit .270 or better in four of those five outings. Colyer was second on the team with nine double-doubles to go along with 39 service aces and career-high 90 total blocks.
In climbing the all-time ranks in UO history, Colyer ends her junior season ranked among the program's career top 10 in kills (1,461, 7th) and service aces (123, 8th).

Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 23)
Ofoegbu, an AVCA Honorable Mention pick in 2022 for UC Irvine, averaged 2.48 kills per set to go along with a .369 hitting percentage. She had 10 or more kills in 11 matches, hitting at least .333 in 10 of those 11 outings. She tallied 13 kills on .360 hitting and added four blocks in Oregon's regional semifinal at No. 1 Pitt. Ofoegbu averaged 1.26 blocks per set and amassed a career-high 148 blocks this season, good for third in the Big Ten through regional weekend.
The Cerritos, Calif., native achieved some personal history, as well, reaching 1,000 career kills and 500 career blocks this season.

Ohwobete is one of three Big Ten players averaging at least 2.50 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set this season. She finished the year with 3.51 points per set, 2.77 kills per set and 2.56 digs per set. She tied her career high with a .254 hitting percentage while reaching double figures in 15 matches. Ohwobete led the Ducks with 10 double-doubles and had a career-high 49 aces, good for fifth in the Big Ten.
Already a member of the 1,000 kills club from her career at UCSB, Ohwobete reached the 1,000 career digs milestone with an 18-dig showing at UCLA in the regular-season finale.
There are 14 players on each of the three AVCA All-America teams—42 total—along with 55 honorable mention selections.
Oregon finished the season at 24-8 overall with a 14-6 record in its first year in the Big Ten. The Ducks hosted NCAA opening-round matches for a third-consecutive season and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 10th time in program history, falling to No. 1 overall seed Pittsburgh in five sets.
