Win Streak Hits Four

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The 52nd-ranked Oregon women's tennis team battled Iowa State Sunday in a neutral-site matchup, with the Ducks winning their fourth straight match away from home with a 4-3 win over the Cyclones at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
After the Ducks (8-3) clinched the doubles point for the ninth time this season after Jo-Yee Chan and Sophie Luescher won 6-3 on court two. ISU was unable to field a doubles team at No. 3, handing UO the early 1-0 lead.
The lead became 2-0 without a sixth singles match being played, and Karin Young extended the lead to three with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. Young improved her team-best singles mark to 8-1 this spring.
The Cyclones stormed back to even the match at 3-3 after winning three consecutive singles matches in straight sets at Nos. 1-3, meaning the match would be decided in a third set at No. 4 singles.
Uxia Martinez Moral, who lost the first set 5-7, came back strong got take the second 6-1. After trading the first four games of the third set, the Ducks' fifth-year senior won four of the next five games to take the decisive set 6-3.
The win pushed Martinez Moral's spring record to 8-3. Overall, UO has won seven of its last eight matches, including four straight away from home.
The Ducks begin Pac-12 play next weekend at Colorado on Friday and Utah on Sunday.
