Oregon is back in the sand Saturday at 12 p.m. to face Saint Mary's.
STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball fell to sixth-ranked TCU Friday evening in its weekend opener at the Battle of the Bay. The Ducks were also scheduled to play host and No. 2-ranked Stanford Friday but the match was cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.
Match 1 | #6 TCU 5, Oregon 0
The sixth-ranked team in the country took the early 2-0 lead with sweeps on courts two and four. At the No. 2 spot, the Ducks' pairing of Landree Coats and Bella Gamache were within two—TCU, 12-10—in the first before TCU rattled off nine of the next 10 points to secure the opening set. Friday marked a season debut for Gamache, the UO freshman from Monroe, Ore.
TCU clinched the dual with a win at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, and went on to complete the sweep on wins at courts five and three, respectively. The pair of Sophie Gregoire and Ashley Schroeder went point for point in the second set with Kaitlyn Bradley and Luana Araco at No. 3 before the TCU pair tallied the final point of the dual.
The match was delayed by approximately one hour due to the previous dual—Stanford vs TCU—playing to a 3-2 decision for the hometown Cardinal.
