Bring on the Broncos
After opening the 2024 season with a 24-14 win over Idaho, the No. 7 Ducks are back at home this week to host Boise State on Saturday night. Oregon is seeking its first-ever win over the Broncos while trying to keep the nation's longest active nonconference home winning streak alive, after extending it to 33 games last week. The Ducks last faced Boise State in the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl, a 38-28 Broncos win, and UO's last nonconference home loss was a 37-32 Boise State victory in 2008.
A Win Would...
» Extend Oregon's nation-leading nonconference home winning streak to 34 games.
» Be Oregon's first-ever victory over Boise State.
» Improve the Ducks to 14-1 at home under Dan Lanning.
Opportunities For Growth After Win
Oregon opened its season with a win and also found much to learn from last Saturday while earning the program's first victory as a member of the Big Ten Conference. UO gutted out its 20th straight home-opening win despite inconsistencies on offense and a couple of defensive breakdowns that led to touchdowns for the Vandals. The Ducks outgained Idaho by 270 yards (487 to 217) as Dillon Gabriel threw for 380 yards, and the defense held Idaho to just 2-of-12 on third down while coming away with interceptions by Brandon Johnson and Nikko Reed.
Keeping The Tradition Going
Oregon kept its run of success in season and home openers going last week with its 24-14 win over Idaho. The Ducks won their 20th consecutive home opener and improved to 92-33-4 all-time in season openers. UO won its 11th season opener in the last 13 years, and improved to 20-5 in season openers since 2000 and 34-7 since 1984. The Ducks took down the Vandals in front of 57,435 fans in Autzen Stadium, UO's largest crowd for a home opener since 2015 and 11th-largest ever on opening day in Autzen.

Milestone Debut For Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel put up big numbers in his Oregon debut, completing 41-of-49 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns. His 41 completions were a career high and matched the Oregon single-game record, making him just the second Duck ever (Danny O'Neil) to complete 40-plus passes in a game. Gabriel also became the eighth player in NCAA history to surpass 15,000 career passing yards, and he is now tied with Sam Hartman for No. 2 all-time with 154 career total touchdowns. Gabriel threw both of his touchdown passes to Tez Johnson, who matched his career high with 12 receptions for 81 yards. Gabriel's 41 completions and 380 passing yards were both the most ever by an Oregon quarterback in his starting debut as a Duck.
» 41 completions in a game are the most by any FBS quarterback in the nation so far this season.
» Joined O'Neil as the only Ducks to complete 40-plus passes in a game.
» First career game with 41 completions; previous career high was 35 (at Memphis, 10/17/20).
» Completion percentage of 83.7 is the eighth-best in Oregon single-game history.
» 41 completions and 380 passing yards were both the most ever by an Oregon quarterback in UO starting debut.
» Previous UO starting debut records were 27 completions (A.J. Feeley & Dan Fouts) and 343 passing yards (Feeley).
» 49 passing attempts tied for 10th in UO single-game history, and tied for second-most in a UO starting debut.
Back Like He Never Left
Coming off a stellar debut season with the Ducks in 2023, wide receiver Tez Johnson enjoyed a standout performance in Oregon's 2024 season opener last week vs. Idaho. Johnson matched his career high with 12 receptions while finishing with 81 yards and two touchdowns in his first game with new UO quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Johnson scored Oregon's first touchdown of the season on a seven-yard pass from Gabriel in the first quarter, and then caught a 12-yard score in the fourth quarter to help the Ducks pull away from the Vandals.
» 12 receptions tied for the third-most in Oregon single-game history; also had 12 last year vs. California (11/4/23).
» Became the first player in program history to have four career games with 11-plus receptions.
» Fifth career game with double-digit receptions, and fourth as a Duck (all in his last seven games).
» In last 10 games dating back to 2023, Johnson has 83 receptions, 1,060 yards and eight touchdowns.
» Preseason all-America selection by The Sporting News (first team) and ESPN (second team).
» Named to the preseason watch lists for the Maxwell Award (best player) and the Biletnikoff Award (best receiver).

Numbers To Know
2 - Terrance Ferguson is just two receptions away from becoming the third UO tight end ever to reach 100 career catches.
2 - Tez Johnson needs just two more receptions to reach 100 in his Oregon career. Saturday's game will be his 16th as a Duck.
